paintings & prints

It may take between 1-3 weeks for the painting to be made, then dispatched to the courier. This includes the time it takes to respond to your initial enquiry, discussion about what you want in the painting and invoicing. The painting will get started once the payment comes through.

River & Colour paints mainly landscapes and the occasional portrait. If you would like a custom painting of other types of subject matter, leave us a message and we’ll see what we can do.

Once we begin a painting, we’re unable to accommodate a change of mind and/or additional change requests. Please make sure you have clearly discussed exactly what you want before we begin painting. For more info please read the T&Cs.

At River & Colour we only use the finest quality materials so that all our artworks will last a lifetime. All our giclée prints are made using a high resolution inkjet printer, pigmented ink and premium Hahnemuhle 308gsm matte cotton paper to create a museum quality reproduction of the original artwork. This is why the production costs of our giclée prints are so high.

shipping & returns

As River & Colour artworks are made to order, we do not accept returns. If, however, you receive a damaged or incorrect item, we ask that you photograph the damaged or incorrect item, email us within 5 days of receiving your order and return it within 30 days of delivery. River & Colour will then issue a replacement. Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns, refunds or exchanges for an original or custom made painting as they are one of a kind. All exchanges are subject to a 15% restocking fee. Any exchanged items must be unused and in all its original packaging. If the item is not returned in its original condition, the buyer is responsible for any loss in value. Buyers are responsible for return shipping costs. Shipping is non-refundable. Please note River & Colour is not responsible for the care or maintenance of any painting once it has been purchased and dispatched.

At River & Colour we know just how fragile a painting can be, so all our custom made and original paintings are carefully wrapped with tissue paper then packaged in its own sturdy box along with kraft wool for cushioning. It is then hand delivered via courier to your home.

Giclée print orders that are A2 in size or larger will be sent in a cylindrical tube wrapped with Ilford Glassine, an acid free paper that is impermeable to air, grease and water. It is then safely delivered by the courier to your home.

If you would like to send your order as a gift or with a special message, please make sure you let us know at the time of purchase and we can arrange that for you.

Please note that all prices are in Australian dollars and may be subject to change. All orders will be sent via AusPost and include a tracking number and insurance. Shipping prices for prints may differ from above. Please check individual products for more details. For all other international orders please contact us for a quote.

Unfortunately River & Colour is not responsible for any lost or stolen packages. If the tracking number on your package shows it is delivered, we recommend contacting the courier company immediately. Please make sure your shipping address is 100% accurate upon checkout. We won’t assume responsibility for shipping charges, additional shipping charges or replacing items that are incorrectly delivered or undelivered because of an incorrect or undeliverable address entered at the time the order was placed. If you’re sending a purchase direct to the recipient, please make sure the address is correct.

The estimated shipping times for all orders are as follows:

Australia: 5-7 business days

New Zealand: 10-14 business days

Everywhere else: 3-6 weeks

terms & conditions

  1. River & Colour promises to produce each artwork to the highest quality.
  2. The client must supply a high resolution photo (at least 300dpi) of their desired landscape for River & Colour to base the artwork on. Please note that a photo taken personally by the client is preferred and more suitable than a found image.
  3. River & Colour will ensure all requirements for the order are discussed and that the client is satisfied with the direction of the painting prior to commencing work. This may include, but is not limited to:
    • The time frame,
    • The shipping and delivery requirements,
    • The size of the artwork,
    • The composition of the artwork,
    • The subject matter,
    • The colour scheme of the artwork. River & Colour may email a small colour mock-up of the painting to the client for approval first.
  4. River & Colour will begin work on the order once full payment has been received.
  5. For any urgent or time sensitive orders the client must factor in at least three working days for the full payment to clear before River & Colour can commence work.
  6. Once River & Colour begins a painting, the client cannot change their mind and/or request additional changes. It is important that the client discusses all requirements first.
  7. The client must be very clear about their requirements as the nature of watercolour does not allow for any changes.
  8. If the client has not requested to see a photo of the final painting, or has seen a photo of the final painting, yet is not satisfied once it arrives, River & Colour is not obliged to alter it in any way.
  9. It is possible for River & Colour to make same week deliveries however there may be a delay due to extenuating circumstances or peak seasons. 
  10. River & Colour reserves the right to decline any request that is deemed inappropriate. This is at the discretion of River & Colour.
  11. River & Colour reserves the right to decline any request when commission slots are full. This is at the discretion of River & Colour.
  12. All work is original and copyright to River & Colour. It is illegal to make copies of any River & Colour work for financial gain or interest.
  13. River & Colour reserves the right to alter the prices where necessary. However, River & Colour will not alter the price given on the invoice.
  14. By making an order with River & Colour you agree to all the terms and conditions listed above.
